Coaching Session A Massive Success

Coaching Session A Massive Success

Friday 19th March saw members of the club receive a master coaching class session from recently retired Irish senior international batsman Jeremy Bray and former club professional Albert van der Merwe.  The club are indebted to Charles Hurst, Peugeot, for their support in bringing two highly qualified coaches to undertake this coaching session.  Both men are currently completing their ECB level 3 coaching award and passed on their knowledge and experience of the game with great enthusiasm to all in attendance.
Albert who was with the club from 2004 to the end of 2007 has made frequent visits back since his move to the Dublin area where he now lives and plays for The Hills along with Jeremy.  He has recently qualified to play for Ireland and is included in their 30 strong summer training squad and in 2010 is expected to make his A team debut under the captaincy of Bray.  Jeremy earned 83 International caps scoring 2,812 runs and also undertook wicketkeeping responsibilities on 23 occasions and although he stepped down from the senior team last year he was recently appointed captain of the Ireland A team.  International team manager Phil Simmons said he was keen to utilise the vast experience that Bray would bring to what is primarily a very youthful squad.
